I think if you read the support documentation you will understand more clearly how domain mapping operates. The content is still in the .wordpress.com blog and when you purchase domain mapping it's mapped to the domain name you purchase. What that means to visitors is that when they click on any original link to a .wordpress.com blog URL they will be seamlessly redirected to the same content under the new domain URL. There is no way to change a registered URL once it is purchased. If you purchased it from wordpress.COM, and it has been less than 2 days, then you can get a refund. If it is over 2 days, then no refund.
