Gee... Life gets complicated, don't it? Thanks. That clears it up. So a bod could start a Private blog, and visit it repeatedly, building up thousands of hits, and then go Public and look like a swarmed-over somebody (rather that a warmed-over nobody)! Amazing... Of course, I am too mature (or do I mean lazy?) to perform such trickery. Thanks again. (You responded so quickly, too!)

Also note that if this is the blog you mean http://wessexfreeway.wordpress.com/ when anyone clicks that URL and fs presented with the private blog log-in box that visit is being recorded even though they may not be logging in.

What is the URL of the blog you are referring to please?

If you are actually referring to a free hosted WordPress.com blog, and if your blog is a private blog then your own visits are being recorded when you are logged in and this cannot be changed. If you have a public blog hosted by WordPress.com then your visits to the blog are not being recorded when you are logged in. http://en.support.wordpress.com/stats/

I launched Wessex Freeway as a test private blog (with nobody else named to see it) 8 days ago & Stats claims I have had dozens of hits. There has been only me hitting it. I am not supposed to count. What gives?

Is there a way of clearing all the stats to start afresh? I published my blog, it was in private mode before and I'd like to clear stats and start counting from its public date. Is it possible to do? If so, how? Thank you.
