Thanks kardotim. I did explore the guide to Twenty Eleven but your response confirms my suspicions. The demo site consists of two separate blogs. It was a bit confusing to me at first as I thought the "photo site" was a page on the demo site, while in actuality it is a separate site.

The demo blog actually consist out of two separate blogs. The Twenty Eleven theme features three default layouts for your blog. One of those layouts turns Twenty Eleven into a tumblelog theme.

The Layout option can be found under 'Appearance' -> 'Theme Options' in your Dashboard.

Please also review this guide to learn more about Twenty Eleven.

In the demo for the Twenty Eleven theme one of the navigation headers is "Photo Site". When I click on Photo Site it appears I am taken to a separate site using the Twenty Eleven theme. When I first saw the demo I thought the "Photo Site" was part of the demo blog.

I guess I want to know if I am correct in my assumption. I would like to have a site that has a two separate post pages, one for photos and one for written posts.

Is this possible with any themes?
If not, can I achieve this by linking two separate sites (as it appears to be done in the Twenty Eleven theme demo)?

thank you
