You're welcome. Yes, there's a lot of contradictory information out there, and a lot of people trying to scare other people.

Thanks a lot for that. You know, you can get confused sometimes, there are many websites and discussions on the web about copyright issues... I've read of people getting sued and blogs deleted because of sharing something external, so I wanted to make sure I do the right thing. I was hoping it would be fine with Spotify, thanks for reassuring me.

I don't know where you're reading that, but the responsibility for copyright with Spotify and YouTube resides with the people who upload files to Spotify and YouTube, not with the people who embed those in their blogs.

Pictures are original material, and yes, you need direct permission of the person who created the image.

Hey guys, a question regarding copyright...

Are you allowed to post Spotify links on your blog, without having a copyright to the song? Let's say, I want to share with my readers songs that I like, but they're not mine - am I allowed to do this?

I have read that with pictures and youtube videos you have to have permission from the author to post them anywhere. How about Spotify?

You do the same thing you would do when your write a paper or an essay. You use brief quotes only and you link to the original sources. Legal issues only arise if copyright violations occur. Keep your quotes brief and correctly attribute the sources and you will be fine. http://en.support.wordpress.com/links/

On my blog, I have been wanting to add an article about the health benefits of napping during the day, and would like to use information from outside sources. I was wondering how does one legally go about using and citing information from other websites? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!
