Yes, I understand the multi-user platform implications; I'm dreaming big. Perhaps I'll win the lotter and acquire the theme and self-host it someday. :-)

I'll write the theme author about adding an option to relocate the metadata. In the meanwhile I'll have to live with the metadata separating the title from the body. At least it's the size I want it to be. Thanks again for that! :-)

We can't edit the underlying theme PHP script files since this is a multi-user platform and we all share the same wordpress core and theme files. Any change by one person would change it for everyone using that theme.

But yes, it would be much easier if we could move things around in the PHP script files.

Hmmm... this will be a challenge indeed.

Is there any other way to put the metadata at the bottom? I'm assuming that if I had the source code files that lie behind the overall style sheet I could change the way the post components are assembled at a lower level, and that would escape the browser variabilities that are getting in the way of this after-the-fact method.

Right now I'm seeing the meta data over the "bottom of post text you have in the test post. To get the meta data in the right place I have to change the "bottom" from the 10em you have to 5em.

Thanks for all that. I can live with the final separator on the metadata. In a way, I like it there.

Thanks especially for the reordering code. I tweeked the values a bit to optimize between IE7 and IE9 - IE7 displays the Share line above the division line, and IE9 displays it below, which is where it should be. (I think this difference is somehow related to the descender cut problem in IE7.) If you havea moment, please let me know how it looks on other browsers.

And actually I'll make a change to a couple of the above.

.post {
padding-bottom: 20px;
position: relative;
}

.post-meta {
bottom: 5em;
margin-right: 55px;
position: absolute;
}

This makes the comment link go bye-bye.

.comments-link {
    display: none;
}

The separator before the comments link ( | ) cannot be removed without removing the others in that line of text.

Make the following changes, but at this point I cannot guarantee that on other posts this is going to hold. Things start to get complex when you start reordering multiple DIVs using positioning like we are doing.

.post-meta {
bottom: 10em;
}

.sharing {
padding: 0;
position: relative;
top: 70px;
}

.post {
padding-bottom: 80px;
position: relative;
}

Also, I've noticed that while the relocated metadata is well-positioned on IE7, it's too high on IE9. In both cases, it appears below "Share this: Facebook" and ideally I'd like to have it directly at the bottom of the post, just above "Share this: Facebook". Any ideas on how to position it more precisely?

I wish I had the rest of the source files for Clean Home - if I did, I could probably me more self sufficient in all this. CSS itself doesn't seem so complicated; the complexity is in the specific implementaions.

I've restored the test post, and implemented the code from http://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/change-position-of-post-info?replies=4 to relocate the metadata to the bottom of the post. That part works as described, and I've discovered there's a side-effect: the metadata for the homepage is shifted to just below the unordered list. How would I need to modify this code to apply only to pages instead of posts, and position the metadata in its usual place just below the page title?

.post {
position: relative;
}

.post-meta {
position: absolute;
bottom: 2em;
margin-right: 55px;
}

In the Clean Home theme, Is there a way to omit the "leave a comment" link from the post metadata line, leaving only Posted, Author, Filed under, Tags, and (if admin) Modify?

Also is there a way to change "Filed under:" to "Category:" in the metadata display?
