I am having the same issue with my blog: http://missionallendale.wordpress.com/

I don't have it set to automatically Publicize. The problem (only started a few weeks ago) was when I copy/paste the url into my FB status -- no image shows/thumbnail shows up.

I had a look at your site, and it seems that most of your latests post do not include any image. As a result, Jetpack doesn't include any Image Open Graph Meta tag to your site's
<head>
.

Open graph meta tags are used by Facebook to gather information about your site. For example, in your latest post, you can find the following meta tags:

<meta property="og:type" content="article" />
<meta property="og:title" content="The most important document EVER for year 11 GCSE geography students " />
<meta property="og:url" content="http://blog.wintoncollege.org.uk/2013/04/the-most-important-document-ever-for-year-11-gcse-geography-students/" />
<meta property="og:description" content="The case study booklet, includes ALL the case studies you need to know for your terminal exam. The three topics you will be examined on are; Natural Hazards, Rivers & Coasts and finally Economi..." />
<meta property="og:site_name" content="Winton College" />

If Facebook doesn't find an image meta tag, it will crawl the page and look for an image: if it finds an image that's larger than 200px x 200px, it will be used on Facebook. If all images are smaller than the required dimensions, you will experience issues.

The best way to solve the problem would be to insert an image into your post. Another solution would be to use a plugin that will add an Open Graph image tag to your posts, even when you choose not to insert any image into the post.

You could use OpenGraph, but you can also look for other similar plugins in the plugin repository.

I hope this helps.

Thanks for the example. It looks like for some reason, we are not detecting the image in that post, as we are in the others.

The other posts, where the correct image is being pulled in, either have a teacher bio at the end of the post, like these:

http://cl.ly/image/3a1c2N3t130Y
http://cl.ly/image/2S2x1d1c2K46

...or otherwise, there is a non-teacher image included somewhere in the post, like this one:
http://cl.ly/image/1b232w2P0D03

Let's confirm a few things:

- how are you sharing posts on Facebook? Is it through the Jetpack Publicize sharing module?

- how are you getting the small teacher photo to appear at the top left of posts, like this one here:
http://cl.ly/image/1K1X3g1p0R0C
Whatever method you're using here is apparently not correctly allowing us to pull in the image.

- are you using a plugin to duplicate posts?

Hi kathrynwp

Thanks for your help however that page you have looked at has changed since I had the problem, oddly all the incorrect avatars have now updated to the correct images here http://on.fb.me/Zormvy

but I still have this issue on my other blog (blog is exactly the same in everyway). The images have not updated and are still showing the blue power button avatar!

blog - http://blog.wintoncollege.org.uk
facebook - http://on.fb.me/YcCQ9O

Can you explain why facebook keeps grabbing this blue avatar and not the avatars or images in the post? What I can do to fix it?

http://cl.ly/image/0a3x2J182i32

If you'd like a different image to be displayed, you can either:

1) add an image to the post itself, or
2) connect a custom avatar to Ms. Johnson's profile

Let us know if you need further help.

Choosing the thumbnail is entirely up to Facebook and we have no control over that.

When I set up PUBLICIZE 9 days ago it worked PERFECTLY. It ported my pictures accompanying my posts to FB with no problem. In the past 48 hours my FB page is now littered with an UGLY glyph that I cannot get rid of.
In the meantime if I simply copy the post link and paste it into FB it issues the image associated with the article perfectly. I do not know how to fix this. I am even willing to turn off images and have nothing appear but the written post but there is no PUBLICIZE option to turn off images.

Please assist me if you can.
