Alternatively, you could use a blank text widget that goes on top of the title (with "position:absolute"). I haven't experimented that on Modularity Lite though.

I made myself a banner in which I wrote the name of the blog. Now above the banner, in text in background, is also written the name of the blog and its tagline.

Is there anyway, I can remove them?

Or if not possible, can you suggest me a different theme, in which I can do this easily (changing banner and background) ? But I'd prefer if I can continue in the present theme itself as after changing theme, I'd have to change the size of header as well.
