Have you tried uploading a Header image and disabling the Featured Image Header? From the Dashboard, check in the Appearance menu for Header and possibly Theme Options. If you want to do any customization of the CSS you would need to upgrade or self host as the other person described.

Also, how can I make every page that follows maintain simply my logo and the nav bar and NOT repeat the larger photo image that sits on the Home Page?
