If one does not, then what you are seeing is a sample display of widgets. Add whatever widgets you want to the right sidebar and that sample set will go away.

Any ideas about getting rid of that blogroll over on the right side would be amazing. I figured it'd be in the widgets or something but I'm not seeing it.

Look under "featured images" and it give the size that must be used for the slider at the top of the theme. in the showcase template.

I'm also having trouble figuring out how to remove the "blogroll" and "meta" sections on the right hand site of my blog.
