In another string, I have posted about a similar problem I've been having with my embedded YouTube videos.

I notice that alwayzhis reported that: "Thank you timethief, but this issue just started happening in late December. " Last month December 2012 was just about the same time when I started to have the problem. In place of all the YouTube videos were empty black frame placeholders. Yet none of the embedding codes had been modified or altered by me.

I suspect that something in the program coding either with WordPress or YouTube, or both, must have happened or changed around December 2012 to have caused the problem.

@alwayzhis: Those aren't the right URLs. The right URL is this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P282mDAaohI

@andreagoutier: That's because the URL has become a live link. See timethief's reply. For foolproof results, always paste the URL or the shortcode in the Text editor, not the Visual.

This happens not infrequently when either WP.com or YT change something. That is why I always use the shortcode

[youtube=URL]

Judging from this post, it seems you probably have a browser add-on that is interfering with your links http://ellislab.com/forums/viewthread/179469/#850146

So would I as I'm not experiencing this issue.
The shortcode works every time for me. http://en.support.wordpress.com/videos/youtube/#embedding-with-a-shortcode

The problem most people posting here have is they are copying and pasting live links. They need to read this:

Make sure the YouTube link is not hyperlinked. More here >
http://en.support.wordpress.com/videos/youtube/#troubleshooting

Thank you timethief, but this issue just started happening in late December. I never had this problem before, however I did notice something very strange in my e-mails today when it notified me that I had changed the post. This is what it said : <span class="smarterwiki-linkify">http://youtu.be/VjFEPObXvOM</span&#62;
Okay... so what may I ask is this "smarterwiki-linkify" business. Have you ever heard of this?

I posted this same request last week, but received no responses. Up until about 3 weeks ago, I've never had an issue with posting videos from YouTube on my site. No matter which way I use (regular URL, shortcode imbed, etc) all that appears on the blog page is the code.
Did something change that I am not aware of?
Thanks for anyone who stops to give me some info...
