You can set your blog to be visible to only select WordPress users. In Settings > Privacy, choose "I would like my blog to be visible only to users I choose", Save Changes, then enter the user names you wish to grant access to your blog. Now only registered wordpress.com users can see your blog. Unregistered users need to sign up for wordpress.com (you can do that without signing up for a blog).
