Just an update. Panos has shown me how to get that header and I've tried it with a sort of test image. I'm off on a business trip tomorrow so won't be able to make it real nice until I get back next Wednesday but at least I know how to do it now. so thanks for pointing me in the direction of Panos.

That's what I was thinking of doing. It does seem silly for me to have a blog mainly about photography and not have an image of some sort there.

If you do want to do something similar using a different image then why not go to his blog and ask him how he did it. :)

I'm not sure how he did that. From what I can see the image I have on my blog is called the header image and at the moment it's the default from WordPress. The one Panos has I can't find any reference how to insert that. It's the same as the text he has to the right of that. I'm not sure how that was done, Maybe he tweaked the template?

Yes, that's what I mean. I think the header treatment that Panos did on his blog is by far more pleasing in appearance than the regular display contemplated by the theme.

The flag counter makes sense and I've moved it already. I've also added the RSS link which was missing. By the header image I assume you mean change the ones that WordPress supply to something more colourful and not the Blog Title the same as Panos has on wptips

Yes but IMO the Flagcounter ought to be moved to be at the bottom of the sidebar. I also think a header image would be an improvement.

I've changed the theme, added featured posts, slideshow, google translate. It's running faster now because I'm moving all the images to be hosted on WordPress instead of Flickr, Fhotoroom and Skydrive. But is it pleasing to the eye? Does it make you want to stay and read more? Be honest, let me know.......please
