Deactivating the Publicize and the Sharing modules ... both must be deactivated, not just one ... allows WOWSlider sliders to display properly.

To deactivate a module, in the JetPack dashboard, click on the "learn more" button - a new "deactivate" button will appear to its right. Click on that and module deactivates.

Re-activating JetPack 'breaks' the sliders again. Neither an image nor the shortcode displays on the page when the slider is inoperative. It is as if the slider did not exist, visually.

Jetpack 1.92 did not exhibit problem. An outside forum suggests that the Jetpack sharing module is a issue, and that deactivating it allows sliders to work. However, new Jetpack does not have (that I can find) an ability to deactivate the sharing module.
