Your link won't work because "Fencing" is a single word. Add a space and it will.

WordPress has never allowed links in post titles, or as far as that goes, any HTML other than perhaps an odd case or two where you could put italics or bold on a word in a title.

I've used Blah quite a bit in the title of posts. Usually it hyper/permalinks to the web page. It hasn't done in a post called Fencing this week. I've check and re checked the coding and it looks right. I've changed the web page I was linking to. I've changed the permalink/shortlink thing, but that didn't affect anything either. What else might influence whether a link in the title is followed or not?
