Once you've named and created your Custom Menu, make sure you've set it as the Primary Navigation in the Theme Locations Module and save.

http://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/

Don't know why TPTB don't emphasize that more in the Support doc. Seems the one step that most people overlook.

The most common misconception bloggers have when it comes to custom menus is that static pages they create and call "catgeories" pages are not Categories pages. The software automatically creates dynamic Categories pages when we publish a post (not a page) with a category assigned to it.

As your blog is private and Volunteers cannot see what you have done I'm sorry but I'm moving on to help someone else.

Thank you

Everything appears to be as per the instructions - but still no joy.

The custom menu is the one that is activated. When I created the menu I selected the pages and the event category exactly as requested in the instructions and saved the menu.

Thank you for the help. I had sort of got this far but seem to have failed at the last hurdle.

I have created a custom menu and it includes the normal pages as well as the category "event".

The problem is that when I look at the blog - only the pages appear on the tabs. The "event" category page is nowhere to be seen.

I have created the event category and have a post in that category so I thought I had covered everything.

Any help most welcome

Yes, add the "events" category to all events related posts, and then use a custom menu and add that category to the custom menu along with your pages and whatever else you wish to be in the menu.

Hi

I have searched the support and not found an answer but I think this is possible with a custom menu?

What I am trying to do is have a category called "events" which also has a page tab with the name "events". I am hoping when the page tab is clicked it will bring up a list of events which are effectively displaying the category.

Thanks for any help here.
