I had figured out that PDFs weren't viewable, but couldn't figure out the coding part. Your advice was just what I needed!

If you wish to display a thumbnail image that will link to the PDF, you upload the PDF, copy its URL, then upload and insert the image, using the "Custom URL“ option to make it link to the PDF URL.
If you wish to display the PDF itself, you can do it via Scribd:

Thanks for the link tip. I followed the directions for Media File and Attachment File, but my issue is, no image shows up on my page at all. I am only getting text wtih the name of my image.
Any idea what gives?
I'm using PDFs and JPEGs.
