Have you resolved this?

When you add the Category Widget to the sidebar, you are offered the option to display a list or a dropdown. It's been my experience that the list view has far more attraction to visitors over the dropdown, at least until you have a large number of categories to display.

Could someone tell me if it is possible, instead of listing blogs by date (under the Archive link) to list the blogs by category and then by date and if so how? If I'm looking at this in the wrong way, please let me know.

Basically, instead of users looking at August, September, etc. I'd like them to see: IT, Philosophy, Cars, etc and then list the post by date under each of those.

Thanks in advance.
