Also like to get rid of the 'search' widget, but maybe that's a qu for another forum topic later.

I checked http://robinlennoxstewart.com/ and I don't see a search widget, so it looks like you were able to remove it on your own, probably via the Appearance → Widgets page.

I'd like to create a nice custom header (about 600x210) with a horizontal menu, just like in the 'awesome blogs using Imbalance2' examples you see when you first sign up.
