I think you're right! I started out with questions I thought were just related to the functioning of the theme I chose. I guess it's more about how wordpress works.

Thanks for your patience.

Hello again,
I'm going to suggest that you use the step by step learn Wordress.com tutorial. :)

You can change the blog linked to your username easily. Dashboard -> Users -> Personal Settings -> then scroll down to Account Details. Then scroll down to where it says ‘Website‘ select the URL for your primary wordpress.com blog and then save changes.

Now every time you sign into the forum we can all click on your username and your blog will be linked to it. And every time you leave a comment on a blog your username can be likewise clicked and your blog can be instantly located.

Right, I don't have an "About" page. So far I have Home, Intro. and Posts. I'm not missing anything I've written so far. I was planning to read up on "categories" next.

I just checked on a different computer, and my "Home" page comes up when I type in harrietswords.wordpress.com, but the head and subheads, as well as the nov. link on the calendar, are not in color.

The rant about clicking on the Gravatar taking me to "perterbation.wordpress.com is no longer available. The authors have deleted this blog" was wrong as well. It's when I click on hlewisr that I'm taken to that page. If you're not sick to death of me, perhaps you could diagnose that one? Thanks for everything.

Okay I still don't see your "About page". I wondering if you created one using this process > create page Sometimes bloggers think that that what they enter into "About me" on this page Users > My Profile and it will appear automatically on an About page. That isn't so. You have to create a static About page and copy and paste that information from "About me" into it and publish it.

It always takes some time until gravatar changes populate throughout the internet. The first place we tend to see the change is usually here in forum threads. The good news is I don't see the quilt block. I see a sketch and that means that your new gravatar is displaying here now.

Regarding the calendar widget I see only "Nov" and no "Sept". Have we covered everything?

Oh, crap, I'm all fouled up. When I click on my icon, avatar, or whatever new name they have for it: "gravatar"???!!! I get a note about perterbation not being available any longer. I thought it referred to some other site, but maybe it was one of the earlier names I tried, ... and misspelled, corrected, then discarded. Why in H is it popping up now!!!???

Short on time, but thought I could quickly change my avatar so it wouldn't show up as a quilt-block here. Of course, nothing is quick and easy. I just installed a new hard drive and the picture I wanted was on a drive not hooked up at the moment, so I had to work on another version of it. Still, I'm getting the quilt block instead of my picture!!! It's why I associate your username "timethief" with doing anything on the computer!

Speaking of which, you've spent too much of your time on my problems, so I would completely understand if you gave up on me!

AAWWWK! I hope I avoided that by deleting the post, and turning it into a page. The thing is, it was saying I posted in Sept., but I didn't even join 'til November.

I'll have to re-read your "avoid creating 404 pages"again. The search engine bit didn't make sense to me on a quick peruse, but I've bookmarked it for later study. Don't have time right now.

I didn't realize you're an expert at this. At first I confused the date under "member" to be the date you joined, so I thought it was a case of the blind leading the blind.

Thanks again! I'll keep an eye on your blog.

I'm well aware of that but I'm also aware that breaking a link by changing the date creates a 404 (page not found) and I avoid creating 404 pages.

I chose Chateau as my theme, but wanted a static entry for intro. so tried to change the name of the About page to Intro. but it disappeared altogether. Also, the calendar back link is to September, not Oct. Don't know how to change it. Bought the theme, but that didn't help...pages don't work, and author didn't answer except to say it's controlled by WordPress staff. Don't know how/who/where to find them. Very frustrated!
