I'm getting the posts pretty much the way I want them by re-arranging things, so let's drop the problem. Maybe things will straighten out when I finish this blog and start a new one.

Let's try one last thing.

Could you try writing your post from the top down, adding your images as you get to the spot you want them? I want to see if there's some kind of weird glitch happening because you are moving around your editor window.

In my last post, I had handwritten the article out first. Then I inserted media and pushed it down. Wrote the bottom 3/4 of the article. Inserted more media (which naturally went directly on top. I pushed it down again, wrote the top 1/4 and then inserted the final media, of course it went to the top.

I have done both, put in media from my files and put media into my gallery and then inserted.

Do you have these images already loaded into your media library, or do you load them into the media library and insert them into the post at the same time?

I'm afraid we're not. 1) I inserted the bottom media, 2) began writing the article about one-quarter down from the actual begining of my hand-written article on top of the media 3) inserted the middle media - pushed down again and wrote the beginning of the article 4) inserted the top media.

I planned it all out before starting because I tried with the cursor for a test and still, all media went to the top. (I am speaking of post - Corregidor.)

Can you describe exactly what you did when you went to add those images that didn't insert into the middle? Where in the text was your cursor, what did you do to "add media" etc.

You have everything right, except I TRIED to insert the photos in the middle, but everything went directly to the top. With the old program I could put the media wherever, whenever I wanted.

Ok, yes I see how that is all weird.

When you post, how do you insert your media?

How did you compose this post? You added your first image (at the bottom), then added in text above it, and then added your other images to the middle? That's what I want to know - how you went about adding those images (the ones that jumped).

As you can see by my latest post - Fort McKinley/Manila - the pix on the bottom was entered first then I wrote above it. The two postcards were supposed to be at the top, but when I tried to add the "fighting" and "river" pix - you can see they went to the top instead of the middle.

I was able to add an image where my cursor was, after the first line of text.

Could you make a post and take a screenshot of the issue? It will help me to troubleshoot more effectively if I can see what you see.

I have tried them all, I believe, including the Quick Post. For example - my blog is about WWII, if I'm describing different planes I like the photo to be somewhere near the description - not all at the top.

Lately I have added Media first, going left then right. Then I lower them to begin the article - finishing up with a photo centered (because I know it will wind up on top.

It also makes it difficult to only see a print out of the photo instead of the actual picture as I am writing.

Most sites are made to work with the latest browsers, and AOL is no exception. You should be able to run the browser not in capability mode and still see everything you'd like to see!

We have seen some reports of users not being able to see an accurate view in "preview" - how does the page look when you publish it?

That's a completely different issue from the one that gpcox and mindbodygolf have reported.

The alignment icons in the WordPress editor are for aligning text; they are not for aligning images. http://en.support.wordpress.com/visual-editor/#alignment They are used to achieve wrapping text around images on either the right or left hand side, or to display an image that's centered without text on either side of it. If the text beside the images does not occupy the same amount of space that the image beside it does then the text wrapping will continue and the images and text that follow will have a staggered appearance.

Align-left means position left, with the rest of the content wrapping around the right side of the image.
Align-right means position right, with the rest of the content wrapping around the left side of the image.
Align-center means position center, with no wrap-around (= the rest of the content below the image).

Every theme has a maximum displayed image width http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/2009/07/23/maximum-image-width/ so it's important to keep that in mind when posting multiple images side-by-side. If you want two images to be side by side on the same line start by setting the alignment of both images to left. To prevent the staggered effect what you do is insert the following snippet of code into the HTML editor after each image/text pair:

That problem is specific to Firefox 16 and upgrading to Firefox 17 seems to solve the problem. http://browsehappy.com
Another workaround is to insert images in Text mode, by clicking the Text tab next to the Visual Editor tab.

I am having the same issue. For instance, if I place three images together, Left, Center and Right they look ok on the draft but when I "preview" they are all over the page. I have re-loaded from the original location, re-sized them to be the same size and they still get thrown all over the preview.

Funny, all of my pictures end up at the BOTTOM of my posts! I use my ipad almost exclusively for posting to WordPress.com. Even when I insert the picture where I want it in the post....it just shows up under everything. Help!

No matter where I click the cursor or set the alignment, all my pictures group together at the top of the post. This has been going on since the "New Post" location was moved. Am I the only one having this problem? I can't imagine what I have Not tried to do to correct this.
