Should I connect JetPack to our existing WordPress.com, account?

You can definitely do that, or you can create a new user account if there is any reason to.

Just let me know when Jetpack is connected and the subscriptions module active, and I'll transfer any email followers over.

Folks who were following your site using an RSS reader - or, as timethief mentioned, using WordPress.com's Reader feature - can't be carried over to your new self-hosted site, so the best way to let those folks know about the switch is to make another post on your old site letting them know where to find your new site, and how to sign up using your new subscription form, once you've added it.

Staff can move only your email subscribers as the followers using the WordPress.com Reader cannot be transferred. You must install the JetPack plugin and activate it. Then you must return to this thread and post the .wordpress.com blog URL as well.

Hi there,

We just switched to a new WordPress template for our website on http://www.thewellspring.org - now we can have our blog right there within our website. My question is, since we are not moving our current blog but starting fresh, how can we let our subscribers know or - even better - move them over so they keep getting our posts without having to do anything? I heard that this is something I need to ask you for and can't do by myself. Either way, please let me know what I need to do or what you would need from my side. Thank you!

Andrea
