The same log-in should not be an issue - .ORG & .COM are separate from each other.

What type of problems did you have?

You should be able to import into an existing blog - I did - there were a few issues that I never did quite figure out - the only thing I can think of would be some Post address issues that WordPress might change the slug (part of the URL) to prevent a collision if there were some identical Post addresses (there is some address stuff done behind the scenes that we can't see)

You can also contact the staff for help as they can take a look at the back end parts we can't see or change.

I followed the directions here (http://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/#moving-from-wordpress-org), but seem to have run into problems that are likely due to the fact that I want to move my blog back to an old wordpress.com site rather than starting a new one. Also, my log-in info. for wordpress.com and wordpress.org are exactly the same, that may be causing trouble also...
