That will work, but you can also add more bottom margin to #header and it moves everything down in one hit. I just popped in the 65px value and you can adjust it as you see fit.

#header {
    margin: 0 0 65px;
}

You will need to add margin-top to both #content-container and .widget-container.

here is our blog http://scrappinsoiree.com/ and we added a custom background to the coraline theme but we want for all the main content text to start below the pink ric rac line. We just can't figure out how to do it. We paid for custom design.
