In the Visual editor, the link button is greyed out till you select a word or a phrase. You wanted to turn the word "post" into a link: you type the word as regular text first, then you select it, click the Link button, paste the URL, click Add Link.
My guess is that instead of doing that you had tried to enter that word into the "Title" field of the link popup. That's not correct: the title of a link isn't the visible colored text that will function as the link, it's (optional) extra info that shows up when one hovers over a link (so that one can tell what the link is without having to click it).

Yet when I preview or vistthe site the words are there missing the link?
