Actually, they're under different usernames, but I can now access both blogs. I need to sign out to do that, it seems, but that's okay with me.

They don't show up together in the My Blogs section of each blog...but I'm happy that I'm not prevented access to my original blog anymore.

Deleted URLs are not recyled. There is no need to delete any blog at all if you follow the instructions I already linked to the instructions for disassociating two blogs.
