Likes and shares are misleading when you are talking about page view stats. Your followers and anyone with a WordPress.com blog who is logged into WordPress.com can "like" and "share" your posts in several locations such as the Reader without ever clicking into your blog and creating a page view stat. See here for what I do to compel readers to read posts on my site > http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2012/07/09/wordpress-followers-likes-and-stats

I have a new-ish blog with a very small readership. Only two followers, and I know them both personally. I made a new post this morning and it's being liked and followed by random people that I don't know (that that I'm complaining), but it's NOT showing any new views or visits. How is that possible? Doesn't someone have to view my blog first before they follow it? I'm curious if this is normal or if I should be suspicious (like I am) that it's some kind of bot following my blog just to get more views for the other person's blog. Can you explain what'd going on here?
