It cannot add that syndicated content to an existing journal with native function.

I've been actively using LiveJournal for more than ten years, and my original intent was to include my wordpress content within my existing LJ for those people that still read me there and don't use rss readers or wordpress for that sort of thing.

I've found that the lj-xp plugin does exactly what I need as long as I remain self-hosted, and I'm not so fed up with the constant hack and exploit attempts that I want to abandon that functionality for wordpress.com hosting.

You cannot have plugins like commentluv on a free hosted WordPress.com blog. There is no FTP access to free hosted WordPress.com blogs and there are no plugin tabs ....
If you wish to have plugins like commentluv then your option is to hire a web host and get a free software install from WordPress.ORG and self host it. http://wordpress.org/

What you can do is make a Contact Form and have people apply through that; this will give you their email address, and then you can use the Invite users function from your Dashboard under Users.

I think adding user registration, log in log out portal.
