When I make a post, there a blank box appears when there is no photograph related to the post. How do I get rid of this, surely I don't need a photo with every post?

I was disappointed that I can't embed code for a Vimeo video clip, rather that I have to just put the link to the video there. Tumblr allows embedding the video in seconds.
