Thank you for providing that link. It gave me some crucial info that no other website gave me:

"Note: The more tag is not displayed in post previews, since previews display posts in entirety, but the more tag will appear once the post has been published."

I was viewing my posts as previews, which explains why the more tag never worked for me previously.

So thanks again! :D

Hi all :)

(Let me begin with a disclaimer saying I'm not sure if this is the right sub-forum, so please feel free to move this topic to the correct one if necessary).

I am completely and utterly confused on how to achieve either pagination or excerpt. Essentially, all I want is for my home page, which is just a default feed of newest articles, to show excerpts rather than full articles.

I can't get the excerpt command to work - the one using 'more' in the middle of a post. Nothing happens when I put the code in.

So then I tried pagination. I attempted this on a static home page, but while it gave me the option of multiple pages, when I clicked on the second page, all it would display was page one, and remove the page hyperlinks. I truly don't understand what the hell went wrong here.

So then I removed the static home page, and read up on index.php content/excerpt jargon, and it makes absolutely no sense to me. I wouldn't have the faintest idea on where to find index.php.

Help? All I want is excerpts!!!

Thanks!
