That is very odd, a rare case in which Word actually fixed the problem. :)

Thanks for clarifying!

You misunderstood. I did not originally paste from Word. I originally typed the entire thing exactly like I always do. And in the Visual Editor, it looked exactly like it should. But when I hit "publish," the spacing did not carry through.

I attempted to "fix" it by adding in extra spaces, thus the many extra div tags in the HTML code. That still did not fix the problem.

Removing the div tags did not fix the problem.

So I finally copied the entire thing into Word, adjusted the spacing issues there, then copied and pasted the entire thing back into my WordPress draft. Finally, that corrected the problem.

I haven't had this problem before. I have no idea what caused it, since I did nothing differently when typing the blog post. But it has been corrected now.

Ah, that may have been the initial problem.

We typically don't recommend pasting from Word, as it has the potential to cause plenty of layout issues.

Word is a word processor, which contains plenty of proprietary info which we can't translate.

See this for more info: http://en.support.wordpress.com/microsoft-word/

Ok, I fixed it. I cut and pasted it all into Word, fixed the spacing issues, then pasted it back. Weird.

I tried that. I removed all the extra div tags. It made no difference.

I don't understand why it would not work today when I typed everything the same way I always do.

No, I did nothing differently than how I normally do it.

And, like I said, in the Visual editor (which is what I normally use to blog), the spacing is normal. So I'm not sure why the HTML would have gotten messed up.

I'll go see if I can remove more div tags and fix it.

Did you paste in the text for "ThingThree and the Self-Fulfilling Prohecy" from somewhere else, or do something differently generally speaking from how you created the post "On The Verge Of Falling"? (If so, you might find the Paste as Text button useful, http://en.support.wordpress.com/visual-editor/#pasting-text)

In any event, if you look at both posts in the HTML editor, you'll notice all the div tags in the most recent post (ThingThree), like macmanx mentioned. Those do not exist in "On the Verge".

I tried removing the excess div tags from the first three paragraphs, and they do seem to work properly, so I think that will solve your problem.

Nope. That didn't fix it.

Those extra div tags are because I was adding a zillion spaces to try to make spaces between paragraphs.

But I removed them, and still it's not formatting properly.

By the way, in the Visual editor, it looks perfectly correct -- with double spaces between paragraphs so people can read it. But that is not transferring once I hit publish or update.

You somehow got a bunch of excess div tags in your post.

If you switch to the HTML editor tab and remove anything that looks like:

<div>

and:

</div>

it should go back to normal.
