That makes no sense to me at all. I would make the blog visibility "private" and then I wouldn't have to password protect any content. It's quick and easy to do. See here > Privacy settings

I've never done this but I believe you can use the "quick edit" function on the Posts > Edit page. Select all the posts you want password protected and then "Bulk Actions" and select Edit and then click "Apply" and I think you can then enter a password for those posts.
