If you happen to a Flickr user, Flickr slideshows can be auto-embedded by pasting a Flickr slideshow link on its own separate line in the post.

I think you're talking about the Carousel feature that's discussed at http://en.blog.wordpress.com/2012/07/12/around-the-carousel-again/

There is not a way to turn it off. You can switch Carousel to a light theme on your Settings → Media page if that helps. Or you can switch to linking gallery images directly to files instead of attachment pages in the gallery settings.
