Myself, along with several others probably, are looking to migrate from Joomla to WordPress as well as move from a self-hosting to wordpress.com hosting platform.
Since wordpress.com already allows for importing content from various blogging platforms, it would be a valued addition to include such a function for popular CMS types, particularly Joomla, which is preferred by users who share similar characteristics with current WordPress users: they value of ease of use, and productive effectiveness.
These users could become loyal WordPress users, transferring their content - as well as their readers - over to wordpress.com, if only such a migration was possible.
