You will have to remove the additional h1 that you have in there otherwise it'll appear duplicated. That might be all you need to do - but start there and see what happens.

I have removed the side date for all my static pages. I have though, used posts to create a blog. Is it possible to use CSS to leave the date on the Blog as it is? Also is it possible to change the look of the widgets to being a 'button' or a diagram?
