Automatic where some programmer knows better what I want to do is real bad and an insult to all bloggers - people choose the format for many reasons - now making it harder to blog is not good

Can this be submitted as a bug so it's recorded and possibly changed in a future release? It shouldn't be making changes to your post without warning or any way to override those modifications.

The fix is to switch them back to Standard after publishing if you don't want to use that format.

That's why they're no longer the image type.

I'd be surprised if this isn't reproducible - if you create a standard type post without a title or text content and add only a single image does it not switch to image type for you? If it doesn't I can provide detailed steps about my posting process.

This did not happen until a month or two ago so I'm thinking something changed in a wordpress update.

Something has changed recently in WordPress that is causing the post to switch to image even if I have the "standard" format type selected. It's extremely annoying.
