It could be either. The bottom line is do not offer full posts in your feed and do not activate hover-card display and you may see this slime ooze off.

So when you say spammer, is this an actual person or some kind of computer-robot-spam thing? Literally my post is getting liked immediately after publication by one specific person, and I'm not cool enough to have people just hanging out at their computer waiting for me to publish new posts, and I'm sure whoever this "spammer" is also has better things to do with their time.

Yes indeed we do have like button spammers that we can't remove the likes from and we can't remove gravatar display unless we remove it for all.

For clarity likes and shares numbers are misleading when you are talking about page view stats. Your followers and anyone with a WordPress.com blog who is logged into WordPress.com can "like" and "share" your posts in several locations such as the Reader without ever clicking into your blog and creating a page view stat. Those who have username accounts only but no blog can become followers and click the "like" and/or "share" buttons. Those who do not have accounts cannot use the like button. http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2012/07/09/wordpress-followers-likes-and-stats/

Note: To compel readers to click into my blog to read the full post thereby creating a page view stat, I have set my RSS Feed for posts to “summary” on this page > Settings > Reading

Hi, this is a bit weird, but as soon as I hit the publish button on my blog, some person (I "know" who it is since I can see their avatar and I could go to their website if I wanted to. But they might not be a wordpress peep since there is not an option to "follow", but that's neither here nor there) is somehow immediately "liking" my post. This has happened the past handful of times I've published a post. I find this strange (and maybe unsettling but thankfully I have no pictures of myself on my blog or elsewhere online) since it is happening in like 10 seconds and this person probably isn't even reading the post.

Can anyone explain how this is happening???
