The public profile is the Gravatar profile and WordPress.com and Gravatar are both owned by Automattic.

How are visitors supposted to see my public profile? How do I make my gravator visible on my home page? I would think this would have happend by default.

Your options are:
1. Create an About page and copy and paste your profile data onto it and publish it. http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/

2. Use one of these widgets in your sidebar:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/gravatar-profile-widget/
http://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/gravatar-widget/

3. Switch to using a theme that provides an author profile below each an every post. http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/2009/08/15/author-displayed-or-not/

I am more confused than ever. What is the point of a public profile that is not visible? When I created my blogs my avatar is not shown and there is nothing to click on the pages that would take someone to Gravator profile page. How are visitors supposted to see my public profile? How do I make my gravator visible on my home page? I would think this would have happend by default.

The data we enter here > Users > My Profile > About me displays on your Gravatar profile page. http://en.gravatar.com/dyedp39

Very few themes have an author profile designed into the theme to display below all posts as an "author profile".

See here for selection of theme that doe or do not have this feature http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/2009/08/15/author-displayed-or-not/

For themes that do not have an author profile, you can create a draft post and create an author profile in it and then copy and paste it on the bottom of each post.

Also note your can copy and paste the Users > My Profile > About me data onto a static About page. http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/
