On the other hand, some nice, complimentary comments were in the spam box. I wondered why.
Because they are spam! All comments that say "great blog", "nice post" and the like (without including anything that actually connects with the content of a post) are spam, designed to seem ok under any post. Keep in mind that Akismet is right 99.99% of the time.

Thanks for pricking my balloon. I was feeling so positive about what I had managed to post. Anyway, I will ignore anything on the spam now. Thanks.

Now, what about the other problems. I wish you had remote control or I could speak with you on the phone because these email things are not helping me.

I think you will benefit from knowing that over 80% of what is submitted as comments to .wordpress.com blogs every day is spam and Akismet does an excellent job of sequestering it. The worst of it is never sent to us to moderate as it contains malware and/or viruses that could bring down many blogs. Also know that approving a single spam comment will lead to more spam as spam attracts spam and spammers wait to see if will will approve generic comments. Please take the time to read "5 things every blogger should know about spam" on this page Akismet: How it works

On the other hand, some nice, complimentary comments were in the spam box. I wondered why.

Did you know that there are people hired to submit such comments? The last time I went to a bloggers blog to help her with spam every comment she had approved (56 of them ) were spam.

You've posted several questions, and you seem to be confusing which blog of yours is which; the post you're referring to is on this blog:
http://readingtothemax.wordpress.com

But anyway in this case there was no need to link to any blog, since you said the comment in question is in your spam box.

And by saying so you have also given the answer to your question. Akismet has recognized that comment for what it is: nonsense spam.

I don't know what you mean. The comment was in response to my blog on Night Rounds by Helene Tursten on texaslonestarreader.wordpress.com. It's in the spam box. How do I get rid of the blog names I started and abandoned to avoid further confusion?

In one of the comments I have received, the user said

I think that you simply could do with a few % to pressure the message house a little bit

Does anyone know what this means? I know it's English, but I don't think I speak the new English today.

Thanks.
