Pages are seperate from Posts and are not contained within the actual blog. That's why they have their own seperate menu. Good examples of pages are About Me, Wishlist, etc.

Automatic links should be occuring. Try using the Pages widget in your sidebar.

Hope this helps,

Thanks for the response.

I have a similar question: what's the point of the "Page" hierarchy? I sort of expected to have automatic links generated for me to link parent to child, but that doesn't seem to happen. Am I doing something wrong...or if not, again, what's the point in having a hierarchy?

Thanks!

I've noticed that if I click a sub-category, the super-category isn't automatically selected. And if that isn't a requirement then I'm not sure what the point of having a category hierarchy is.

If you search on the supercategory, you will get results on ALL of the subcategories.

You don't have to select it, the logic is already there.

Categories and sub-categories are actually tags and as such each tag may not contain the key word fronm the primary category.
This is what I mean
Water-
- aquifers
- groundwater (wells)
- marine environment
- municipal drinking water
- reservoirs
- riparian systems, streams, rivers, ponds, lakes
- waste water (grey water)

I'm new to WordPress, so I apologize in advance if this is an obvious question. But what is the point of hierarchical categories? I've noticed that if I click a sub-category, the super-category isn't automatically selected. And if that isn't a requirement then I'm not sure what the point of having a category hierarchy is.

Can anyone clear this up for me?

Thanks.
