No, that would require another upgrade instead: site redirect.

The hosting and domain registration are separate items.

If you want a domain name you bought (any where) and you want your blog at WordPress.COM to have that name (your-name.com not your-name.wordpress.com) then you need the domain mapping.

If you want to host your site not on WordPress.COM you need the equivalent to domain mapping BUT it is not a separate charge - it is all wrapped up in the Hosting package cost - so all you will see is $ xx / per month for your hosting cost.

You may point your domain name registered with WordPress.COM to your blog NOT hosted on WordPress.COM (Bluehost etc) with your domain name mapped to your blog NOT on WordPress.COM - at that point the Terms of Service do not apply to content on your blog not hosted here because it is not hosted here.

Some bloggers do start their site here with no ads or income then move the blog off WordPress.COM so they can add ads - the rules apply to where your blog is hosted - each host has their own Terms of Service.

Now I have new questions after researching the links that were given to me from my original questions posted a few weeks ago.

I read (and I could be mistaken) that when I pay for domain mapping upgrade that the same rules applied to my blog here on wordpress.com also apply to my new blog located on another web hoster. So let me just say what I want to do. I want to eventually leave wordpress.com and establish a new blog on another sever/hoster. I want to be able to display advertisement on that blog. So does that mean I can't get a domain mapping upgrade because I would want this feature to go from my advertisement free blog located here on wordpress.com to a blog that has ad banners somewhere else?

Also, timetheif said this on my last thread

Please be aware that you can purchase a domain mapping upgrade and still have WordPress.com free host your blog. I do that with both of my blogs.

This sounds like a good idea. However, can anyone explain the benefits of doing this?
