In response to your second point, it would be nice if wordpress.com created a way for people to create widgets that had certain options for automatically updated information. For instance, in my case, I'd like to create a widget that replicates the functionality that's already happening with the top posts on my dashboard, this would include the widget automatically calculating the views and updating the rotating of those articles. In the example you noted, someone would create a widget that allowed them to make minor changes to a full list, rather then have to manually do the list each time they wanted a new "authors choice". I know wp.com doesn't want scripts on their server, but some of their widgets are already using their own defined scripts. It would be nice to have a bit of flexibily, controlled within wp.com's chosen options, with some of their widgets.

For now, the manual solution that you and I spoke of will work, but I probably will only update it once a week or twice a month.

This really has nothing to do with your question, but I find it interesting that some one else on these forums wanted a widget for "authors choice" rather than the Top Posts. The reason being that Top Posts are self-perpetuating. Readers see a list like that and click to view, making them ever more popular. But if you present readers with your own favorite posts, they will likely enjoy having an expert guiding them to the most important information. Just two ways to look at it, and which you use is particular to the blog you are writing.

But, I noticed that it seemed to over ride the theme's side panels and I believe it has something to do with the Div html code that carried over. Funny thing is, I decided to check here and see if anyone has responded and lo and behold, you're suggesting what I just tried. Nice! In any event, I'm going to remove the Div codes and see if that works as well. Thank you for your input!

Open your dashboard, view sourcecode, "find" one of your top post titles. Copy the code and paste it into a text widget. Obviously you'll have to update the list whenever it changes on your dashboard.

Yet, when I add the Top Posts widget to my blog page, it only shows the top posts made within the last 24-48 hours. What I don't understand is, why can I not have the same "top posts" information that is in my dashboard reflected on my blog pages? It just seems odd that the ability is already shown on my dashboard to display this information, but no option or alternative seems to exist to let me place that information on my blog.
