Only one rating per computer is allowed, but this is tracked via cookies. If someone wanted to "game" the system, they could use multiple browsers, or clear their cookies, or block cookies entirely. As with anything, if someone wants to misuse something, they'll find a way.

I can blacklist urls from making comments, but how is it done for the ratings alone?

You can't block them from rating, but if you block them from commenting, it might discourage them from playing their little game.

I really don't know who it was that was participating, anyway. How would I find that?

It's hard to tell for sure. Sometimes the offender makes their behavior clear through attitude of their comments.

I have disabled the ratings. Maybe I am mistaken but I thought only one Nero rating per computer was allowed by WordPress. The Ipad seemed to change that. Is that correct?

Of course, if you know who's doing it, you could blacklist them via Settings -> Discussion too.

Yes, definitely disable rating if that is a concern for you. It's just part of human nature that folks can use a system incorrectly to their own advantage.

I would disable the ratings but I believe Staff may have another approach so I have flagged this thread for their attention.

With an ipad, one can run up the "thumbs up" or "thumbs down" ratings of any comment. This has led to a competition or a contest of wills in some cases, rather than relatively honest fedback. Any fixes?
