Deleted blog URLs are not recycled here. Confirm by reading:

You can register another blog with a similar name. http://en.support.wordpress.com/register-a-blog/

Or you can register a domain vis a domain mapping upgrade and it will not matter what the underlying .wordpress.com address is.

However it's been several months now and the blog name is still not available and is just shown as "deleted" when I visit the blog page. Is there any way to free up this name again?
