(1) I don't think importing/exporting transfers followers/traffic/etc.

We can transfer your email subscribers to your self-hosted site if you run the Jetpack plugin, as auxclass mentioned.

Just start a new thread when your site is up and running with Jetpack and let us know you're ready. Since there is no reader on self-hosted sites, your followers won't carry over, so we recommend you make one last post on your WordPress.com site, inviting people to subscribe by email over at your new self-hosted site.

(2) I have two administrative accounts that are not necessarily connected; for example, I posted my first article to danraysucks.com under my new admin. name, but my original danraysucks.wordpress.com did not update.

If you still need to make a post on your old site, you can log in at http://danraysucks.wordpress.com/wp-admin with your original WordPress.com username and password. The login for your self-hosted site will always be separate from the one at WordPress.com as they are running off completely separate databases.

Once you purchase it, you'll be able to set it to redirect all visitors from looplooks.wordpress.com to looplooks.net.

I would like my followers to know that I'm still posting, so is it possible to connect these accounts? Or, is that exactly what redirecting does? Thanks.

1. I blog at http://looplooks.wordpress.com
2. I decided I wanted to go self-hosting. (wordpress.org)
3. I bought http://looplooks.net and hosting services from GoDaddy. Looplooks.com wasn’t available.
4. I transferred all my looplooks.wordpress.com content to looplooks.net
5. Now I’m trying to figure out the best way to redirect my traffic from looplooks.wordpress.com to looplooks.net. I think I have to pay wordpress.com $13 per year to redirect, correct?

Or should I map my .net domain for $13 a year? I would like to be able to use the plug-ins, etc provided by wordpress.org.
