Domain mapping is $ 13.-- if you own the domain name - or $ 18.-- for the domain name registration & mapping.

You can from name.com probably do domain forwarding - so the domain name will send people to your blog - BUT when they get to your blog they will see the WordPress.COM URL unless you do some sort of masking also - but if you mask visitors have trouble getting the URL to a specific post if they want to send the URL of a Post to a friend - since the base URL is mask - no free lunch and no free search engine identity

I am wondering if this is a domain-side thing, but wanted to check to see if it's something I need to do on WordPress.com's end. I am looking to have a domain "point" towards my WordPress.com website. I understand about domain mapping, but the extra $18/yr is more than I'm up to right now and just want to be able to start directing people to a consistent url for now.
Would this be something I would need to do from the domain side of things? I'm planning to go through name.com for the domain. Will I need any IP information? Thanks!

Apologies if this has been answered before, I didn't see it.
