Don't know how much that counts as duplicate content as far as the search engines are concerned.

I use a Most Popular recently viewed widget so when one Post gets a lot of traffic it shows up in the Widget and that seems to generate some extra interest. My traffic is modest so a few clicks on a Post will put it into the bottom of the Recently Viewed. It has a 24 to 48 hour running average I think so the Posts displayed do change a bit every day.

They also hate links that go to pages that have been deleted, but not as much as they hate duplicated content.

What I'd suggest is making a new post saying "and you should check out this AWESOME post from the archives"..
