I'll just put this in here for reference. WordPress doctype is now defined as html5, which means there are a good number of HTML tags that are now obsolete. The following web page tells what those tags are.

These tags are now going to have to be replaced by inline CSS definitions.

actually the first suggestion did not work. But while I was in the HTML mode I had a thought about just aligning the image.

Sop I went to the visual mode, highlighted the actual image, and click the right justify icon above, and voila, all of a sudden it is now aligned right.

Not sure why it took that to do it, but it is resolved.

The machine that is misaligning the image is somehow ignoring the align="right" in the image code. Try the following on the image code. You will have to switch to the HTML tab to do it.

Replace this

align="right"

with this

class="alignright"

If that does not work, download that image and upload it to your image library instead of hotlinking to it off of the other site. Then upload and insert it into the post just as you would a normal image.

Yes I tried identical resolutions and the results were the same. Both browaers are at 100% and I have played around with them. As you said the image did not move, but the font got larger / smaller.

I'm baffled.....

Did you check zoom levels on the two browsers? This should not affect image placement, but it will affect font size (if the two monitors are the same resolution). Go to the view menu in each browser and reset the zoom level to normal or 0.

Thanks for all of the suggestions, but nothing has resolved it. It is still different in the two browsers.

Admittedly, I wish that people had the same screen settings as mine. I see slightly different colour shades for ie. my blog background colour.

As for the table, border="0" is obsolete. See here:

also have a look at the font size of the browser. different font sizes can make look a page different.

To change your screen resolution

1.Open Display in Control Panel.

2. On the Settings tab, under Screen resolution, drag the slider, and then click Apply.

3. When prompted to apply the settings, click OK. Your screen will turn black for a moment.

4. Once your screen resolution changes, you have 15 seconds to confirm the change. Click Yes to confirm the change; click No or do nothing to revert to your previous setting.

On my desktop it looks fine too. I also run IE8.

Is it something to do with your screen resolutions on the different machines? Are they the same size screens?

http://warriorsjrc.wordpress.com/2011/03/30/get-into-hot-water-with-the-warriors/ is the post I put up. It is to have the image right aligned on the page. On my desktop machine, it looks like it should, however the same post on my laptop is ignoring hte right alignment and putting it on the left of the page, causing the first line of text to appear at the bottom right corner ofthe image.

Also, in this post - http://warriorsjrc.wordpress.com/sponsors/ on my desktop machine shows a grid (table if you will) with borders, whereas on my laptop no borders appear. In this post I have created a table and set the borders to 0.

Both systems use IE 8, so I am not sure if it is a setting in one of the browsers. Anyone have any ideas?
