It's important to understand that the small editor box display and the maximum displayed width of your theme are very different. This is the entry for image alignment found in support documentation. http://en.support.wordpress.com/images/image-alignment/

The alignment icons in the WordPress editor are for aligning text; they are not for aligning images. They are used to achieve wrapping text around images on either the right or left hand side, or to display an image that’s centered without text on either side of it. If the text beside the images does not occupy the same amount of space that the image beside it does then the text wrapping will continue and the images and text that follow will have a staggered appearance.

    Align-left means position left, with the rest of the content wrapping around the right side of the image.

    Align-right means position right, with the rest of the content wrapping around the left side of the image.

    Align-center means position center, with no wrap-around (= the rest of the content below the image).

If you want two images to be side by side on the same line start by setting the alignment of both images to left. To prevent the staggered effect what you do is insert the following snippet of code into the HTML editor after each image/text pair:

<br style="clear:both;" />

I have been having a problem that seems to get worse every week. Every Friday we post a report that we work on for a few days before publishing. The first problem that arose is the spacing. We noticed that when we saved the report the spacing would get all messed up and either huge gaps would appear between paragraphs and photos or the spacing we wanted would disappear and everything would be all jumbled together.

Last week things got worse as whole sections of the report disappeared and in other areas, parts disappeared jumbling everything together into something that made no sense at all.

I realize that WordPress is free (even though at this point we are paying for some of the bells and whistles) but is it too much to ask that when we save and publish something, the resulting blog is what we put together? Sections should not be randomly disappearing.

Is anyone else having these problems?
