Once you have bought domain and hosting, just go to wordpress.org and download the latest version. Use FTP client to upload and decompress all the files zipped-downloaded. Then configure wordpress with your database. Create account and you are done. I recommend you using net2ftp web-based ftp client which will automatically decompress the files after uploading process is completed.

Net2Ftp review: http://www.aisajib.com/2009/05/01/net2ftp-an-integrated-web-based-ftp-client/

--- Thanks. Hope that helps.

I have a few self-hosted WP sites. It's pretty easy after you get the hang of it. You need to buy web hosting and a domain name first. Then you download wordpress, unzip it and upload it to your account. Then you create a database on your webhosting account. You find a wordpress theme you like and upload it to the wp-content/themes file. There is a lot of info on how to do this all at wordpress.org. There's a learning curve, but you can learn it okay. Soon you will become an expert. Good luck.

I have very limited knowledge of coding, codex, htlm etc. But I really want to make my own blog with my own domain and features. Since I have never used wordpress.org to make my own site, will it be easy to make my own blog. I already have a wordpress.com blog but I feel its a bit restricting in customisation. Also could I get someone else to set up my blog and then edit it from my laptop?
