I post code between backticks as the code buttons can be "funky". The backtick ` not to be confused with the single quote mark ' is located to the left of the number 1 key in lower case under the tilde ~.

I think I was mistaken - I was under the impression that sharing buttons should appear on the right side of the page under the widgets, as sort of a "master sharing buttons" group that would apply to the whole site (as opposed to beneath each individual post). Or something - if that makes any sense.

That is possible too, but you would have to add it as a widget. You can add a custom html widget and add the code, like this for twitter. You can google how to do a similar thing for any other social networks you would like to share with.

Alternatively, you could download a set of social media icons (a google search will return plenty), upload the images to wordpress, place the images in the custom html widget, and link the images to your social media pages.

An example for a twitter button would be

Yes, they are appearing where expected ie. at the end of the posts above the comment box and they are functioning properly. :)

But, yes, the sharing buttons DO appear under each post on the front page. So I guess it's functioning properly?

They are appearing for me, underneath each post. Or are you referring to different sharing buttons?

I see sharing button on all posts on your front page. You must have a browser issue. Try clearing your browser cache and cookies please. > http://www.google.com/support/accounts/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=32050
Also try using the browser with all extensions or add-ons disabled
Updating the browser to the latest stable version (not a buggy BETA browser version) http://browsehappy.com/ may be required.

Hi again,
One other issue is that the sharing buttons are not appearing on my front page, although I HAVE selected the Show buttons on > Front Page, Archive Pages, and Search Results setting.
